Les bénéfices des Systèmes d'Information pour Dirigeants dans trois pays

Dorothy E. LEIDNER, Sven A. CARLSSON

Abstract

This study analyses the influence of national culture on the benefits obtained from the use of Executive Support Systems. While the majority of ESS studies have focused on ESS from the perspective of the IT developers, the current study offers the perspectives of 275 ESS users from the USA, Sweden, and Mexico in order to examine the differences in benefits of ESS usage attributable to national cultural differences. The results of the study suggest that national culture influences the perception of the benefits of ESS on decision making processes, although Hoftsede's cultural dimensions are insufficient in explaining the differences. More broadly, the results demonstrate that multinational organizations cannot expect to obtain similar benefits from IT usage across organizational divisions in various countries.
