Abstract

This research focuses on the performance of coordination processes when groups of actors don't share the same agenda or location. Which theoretical framework is it possible to use to analyse this type of processes? What are the determinants of the performance? Which role is played by IT and CT systems in that performance? To address this issue, a qualitative research process has been set up with collective performance as a base of the investigation. This approach leads us to select working situations considered as highly performance and to use the distributed cognition theoretical framework. The comparative analysis of 5 coordination processes drive use to complete this theoretical framework and propose a pattern of analysis for coordination which outline the nature of the process, the performance factors involved in the process and the role played by IT and IS.
