About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Systèmes d'Information et Management (French Journal of Management Information Systems) is the major French language journals addressing information systems intended for organization management.  It is a scientific quarterly journal belonging to the AIM scientific association. As a scientific review, SIM is committed to the ethical principles of the national chart of research academic activities, the European Charter for Researchers and to the policy of the Association for Information Systems. The journal has a strong scientific character and publishes works in both French and English that adhere to internationally recognized principles of rigor.
 
SIM aims to provide a scientific  platform for discussions on digital transformation and its managerial implications. The journal pursues the following scientific objectives:
  • Assess the performance and characterize information systems from the point of view of definition, design, development and use;
  • Understand the organizational transformations induced by information systems;
  • Examine new business models related to the digital era and their evolution; 
  • Analyze the information processes deployed by actors in their activities of monitoring, communication, creation, and enrichment of knowledge.
  • Describe and analyze how actors appropriate information technologies and how, in turn, these technologies modify coordination mechanisms among actors and sociocultural norms.
From this scientific standpoint, SIM journal deals in particular with: information systems strategy; knowledge management; cost, financing and profitability of information technologies; evolution of the information systems function; evolution of work and business processes; organizational transformation; managerial, power and ethical issues. The analysis of the transformation of work, organizational structures, governance, management, and business models with digital technologies represents various themes that can be explored in this journal.
 
Any original work, theoretical as well as empirical, enhancing knowledge in Information Systems is welcome as long as it deals with management issues. Contributions of authors based on a theory from source disciplines are welcome (philosophy, psychology, sociology, economics, anthropology, history, law, linguistic and cognitive sciences, computer science, mathematics). Theoretical research whose field is clearly put in perspective can be acceptable along with empirical research which reviews concepts or theories.
 
SIM publishes works which respects the highest international standards. It reflects diversity in methodological approaches: quantitative, qualitative, conceptual, action research, clinical and experimental, simulations based on hypotheses including concrete and relevant problems are all covered by SIM.
 
Consequently, the editorial board will primarily select articles :
  1. Making a significant contribution to knowledge in the chosen field;
  2. Appropriate to teachers, researchers and well-informed professionals.
 
The journal aims to:
  • Highlight the best research and enhance scientific knowledge in the domain of information systems;
  • Share the interests and potential applications of academic research to practice.
 

Peer Review Process

Articles can be submitted in French or in English and will be reviewed in the language of the submission. The submitted articles must be original. At time of submission, articles should not be previously published, under review nor accepted by another journal. All articles are objectively peer-reviewed by at least two experts in the field, who have no conflict of interest. Review process is double-blind.

When accepting to review, reviewers commit themselves:

  1. To accept to review only articles that are relevant to their expertise
  2. To report to the editor in chief any suspicion of ethical misconduct
  3. To treat reviewed articles confidentially
  4. To review works in an impartial and timely manner
  5. To review successive versions of the work if requested
  6. To ensure that articles they review respect the journal guidelines and that all relevant literature is cited

Ethics and Malpractice Statement

As a scientific journal, SIM is committed to the ethical principles of the national chart of research academic activities and to the policy of the Association for Information Systems. Authors of articles submitted to our journal must fully subscribe to these and respect their ethical guidelines. Submissions that do not comply to any of these guidelines will be rejected and returned to their authors.

 As part of the submission process, and before submitting, authors are more particularly invited to double-check their submission's compliance with all of the following items:

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor under evaluation at another journal.

  2. All authors of the article to be submitted have significantly contributed to the research

  3. All authors of the article to be submitted commit themselves to participating in the peer review process of at least three other works submitted by other authors.

  4. The article to be submitted respects the copyrights of the sources used (e.g. figures, tables, photographs, illustrations, trade literature and data) and explicitly cites them. All authors commit themselves to provide retractions or correction of mistakes as soon as they are made aware of them.

  5. Authors are aware that any submission in English, written by non-native English speakers, will have to be professionally copy-edited at authors’ cost before final acceptance. No other fee or charge will be required from authors for manuscript processing and/or publishing.

  6. Any financial support has been notified in writing at the beginning of the article.

  7. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

  8. All submitted files are in Microsoft Word or RTF document file format.

  9. All submitted files are anonymous (no name of the authors in the article nor in the file properties).

Journal History

The French Journal of Management Information Systems publishes four issues per year since 1996. The Editors-in-Chief have succeeded each other during the following periods:
