Abstract

Free software or the free French software, is a category of data-processing products such as the operating system Linux or the software of Web server Apache which were developed in a collaborative way and which can be acquired, modified and be redistributed completely free. Such products are also frequently called free software and open software source in English. Although the concept of free software is as old as the idea of software (Feller and Fitzgerald, 2002), the concept of free software was only formalized at the beginning of the Eighties per Richard Stallman, who established Free Software Foundation (Foundation of the Software Free) and suggested a definition entitled Free Software Definition (FSD).
