Abstract

This paper compares the results of two laboratory experiments on decision making : one in electronic face to face meetings, the other with people working at anytime and anywhere with groupware (distributed context). A model with seven variables has been designed (participation, consensus, cooperation, influence, satisfaction, timing and quality) and seven hypothesis tested, with four measurement procedures (qualitative observation, content analysis, computerized data, questionnaires). Comparisons are discussed variable by variable. We cannot conclude on any overall decisional perfprmance modifications. However, the value of collective work (quality, timing and satisfaction) has increased, whereas the four other variables remain stable, when changing contexts (from the face to face to distributed one).
