Abstract

The objective of this paper is to show the role of information systems (IS) in strategic innovation, a specific form of disruptive innovation. Two main theoretical frames have analysed the link between IS and strategy: the first considers IS as creator of a competitive advantage, the second insist on the necessity to align IS and strategy. Through a new case study, we show that those theories are complementary and explain the role of IS in the creation and the evolution of new business models.
