The evaluation of the Strategic IS planning (SISP) is a complex management process of interest for numerous organizational developments such as banks and insurances. This process is of such importance that the information system strategies of these enterprises tend to be aligned to the global strategy of development. This paper adresses the factors success of this management activity, and tries to identify the critical success factors of SISP? The proposed model describes the good practices of the SISP management and organizational projects. It is articulated on three main concepts: the necessary means for SISP, the support procedures of the planification process, and the managers and users implication in a project. Three interdependence hypotheses supporting the contingence study are tested, using nine research variables. The results confirm the unidimensionality of the research variables, which are measured by multi-dimensional scales. The data analysis confirm the existence of three generic key success factors (Business Assetts Differentiation, Management Practices Differentiation, and Potential Ressources Differentiation), and, two specific key success factors (IS Policy Differentiation and Committee Structure Differentiation). This study concludes that the " IS-CFS " approach is important to evaluate the process and results of the SISP. It can provide guidelines for further research development, with a descriptive or explicative object, and reinforces the conceptual and methodological framework of SISP.How to Cite
